Announcements

Spring Swim Team Tryouts
Wow... we already have over 40 new athletes signed up to tryout the team this spring and are still taking calls daily. We are excited to get so many new swimmers into our sport of club swimming and are proud that we can help grow our team without having to recruit away from other teams. We are also very proud of our swim team parents who demonstrate character and adhere to our team policy of non-recruitment. While we do accept swimmers from other club teams as we know circumstances change with families and they often need to seek out other opportunities active recruiting of such swimmers is not accepted on this team. Thank you GCSTO parents and welcome to our new swimmers!
If you are a new family to GCSTO and would like to try us out for a week to see what we have to offer there are still opportunities to do so. For more detailed information please contact us at 614-478-5445 or stevenye@sbcglobal.net.

GCSTO Scores, Again, As The Only Central Ohio Team In USA Swimming's "Club Excellence" Program for 2014

USA Swimming recently announced the results and rankings for their 2014 Club Excellence Program and GCSTO was one of only four Ohio Swimming teams to be recognized in this ELITE listing. The program recognizes the top 200 clubs in USA Swimming as Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal clubs according to the following parameters:

Gold Level: The top 20 point-scoring clubs eligible for the Gold level.
Silver Level: The remaining clubs ranked through #100 and not achieving Gold status.
Bronze Level: Clubs ranked #101 through #200 and not achieving Gold or Silver status.

The program recognizes USA Swimming clubs for their commitment to excellence in performance at the national level. By earning Bronze Medal status, GCSTO was the only central Ohio program to make it into any one of the three categories this year. Yet, we are not alone in terms of Ohio Swimming teams in this exclusive ranking.
A big congratulations go out to Dayton Raiders for being selected as a Gold Medal Club and to Mason Manta Rays & Northern Kentucky Clippers for being selected at Silver Medal Clubs.

We want to thank all of the GCSTO swimmers who have stayed the course with the team and who have worked so hard to help GCSTO be the only central Ohio team to, once again, make this list keeping us GCSTO Strong, GCSTO Proud and STILL... GCSTO!

GCSTO Alum Breaks 2 Masters World Records

GCSTO alumni, Adam Ritter, broke 2 world records for his age division in the US Masters Nationals meet held in St. Petersburg, Florida in July. Adam swam a 1:51.39 200M freestyle eclipsing a 21 year old record. He then broke the world record in the 200M IM with a 2:04.40. His 200M IM obviously broke the US National record, as well, coincidently was held by ANOTHER GCSTO alumni, Honza Vitazka! Read up more on Adam's accomplishments here: http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/Masters/35124-m.asp?q=Adam-Ritter-Breaks-Two-Masters-World-Records,-Including-21-Year-Old-Standard

GCSTO's Charity Efforts

We would like to thank EVERYONE who helped out our 2012 Salvation Army Holiday Cheer efforts by bringing in a toy or a gift to donate at our Holiday Cheer meet. We were able to deliver upwards of 200 such new gifts to the Salvation Army in time to be handed out at their Holiday Cheer event held at the Fairgrounds this year. Your efforts truly brightened the day of hundreds of children. Please visit  SALVATION ARMY COLUMBUS to read more about their efforts with this project.

This is not the only charity that GCSTO supports. GCSTO also donates over $200 a year to Recreation Unlimited. Recreation Unlimited Farm and Fun is a 501(c)3 not-for profit organization serving individuals with physical and developmental disabilities and health concerns and supported through the development efforts of the RECREATION UNLIMITED FOUNDATION. Our Greater Columbus Swim School also donates to the Make-A-Wish Foundation
MAKE A WISH. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® enriches the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities. Our "Greater Columbus Swim School" also makes monthly donations to the ST. JUDE'S CHILDREN'S RESEARCH HOSPITAL and has done so for several years in a row. The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay. And as you may note, GCSTO also offers scholarships to local community organizations and individuals through the
MAKE A SPLASH FOUNDATION as described under our "Swimming Lesson" tab on the left. We are proud to be a part of these incredible community efforts which make everyone's everyday lives a whole lot better!
